Cambodia... such a poor stricken country, yet a hidden gem with gorgeous sceneries and amazing history. Seriously I can hardly imagine myself living in countries like that, and I am darn lucky to be staying here in Malaysia. :)
Though poor in terms of the spending power of its people. It is rich with Culture, Folktales, and most of all historical artifact that give prove to Cambodia in being one of the earliest civilization that came up with such amazing creations. It is an awe that those amazing architectural structures and carvings can be done without the help of modern technology and machineries - no wonder it is one of the 7 wonders of the world...
... And thank god I had a great tour guide that gave me a truly local experience in Cambodian food!

Long weekend spend on baking and learning the ropes on making the real mooncake. :)
Tiring but satisfied. At times, I think I like to spend time staring at food more than people. Just wondering, am I that anti social or what. At times, I just don't like hanging out with people that I don't meet up much and having "random" conversation with them. Hmm... guess I'm VERY anti-social!

To me, cooking is therapeutic.
The joy of starting from scratch with raw ingredients, and making it into something that is eatable and liked by all can easily fill me with joy! The stress-ness that came from other issues in life, seemed to disappear when something nice is cooking in the kitchen! :)
The process itself, though at times is time consuming and tiring. The trial and error of making something, numerous fails of one single dish, but at the end of the day, all it takes is just one smile and one sentence of someone saying "I love it", and all the hard work is just worth it.
I guess this applies for any other thing? People tend to see things based on monetary value. But at the end of the day, isn't the appreciation of others on your hard work better than anything else in the world?
Maybe it's just me :)

Dad has been throwing all sorts of books and magazines into my room ever since I started going college.
But I think, this is the best book so far. See the last line? 100s of Ready-to-Use Phrases for Coming Out on Top Even in the Toughest Office Condition.
That will probably come useful sooner or later. Especially in situations when I feel like STRANGLING someone... yet I still have to smile SWEEEETLY and talk NICEEEELY to them.

Steamboat had always been one of my favorite dinner places to go to with friends. But I think I'm swearing off Steamboat for at least ONE YEAR.
Reason being. Four girls, two soups, and stacks and stacks food on the table. Three and a half hour of steamboat, and I can still feel the "super full" after effect of the steamboat during lunch on the very next day.
That is not something I want to do anytime soon.

Boohoo.... my Nine Layer Kuih fail la!
The "exterior" looks nice, but the texture is ermmm... ermmmm... somehow jelly-fied and sticky-fied?
Darn... should have used corn flour instead of glutinous flour! Stupid recipe giving misguided ingredients!
The bright side for today's cooking sp;ree is that at least my Tong Yun tasted nice. BUT bloody Tong Yun is fool-proof and anybody can make it! :(
Well, smart people prepare for emergencies and surprises. So at least I can consider myself smart for buying an extra can of coconut milk to make Kuih Talam for tomorrow?
Ida Low in a very foul mood :( :( :(

It has been awhile since I had some "quality" all girls company/chat/gossip session... Ahh... Miss the old days when my Brizzy Babes were around.... (@______@)"
But anyway, yesterday was fun. The fun part of the day was not having guys around and we can gossip like nobody's business! AND not having ANYONE JK telling me that I am becoming more like an aunty when I gossip and talk about COOKING! GRrrrrr.......
I think baking cookies and cupcakes were the secondary activity yesterday, gossiping was the main "activity" instead! *Thanks Jean for organising baking day!* wet eyes
Baking task number 1: Lemon Creamed Butter Cookie decorated with icing sugar
Baking task number 2: Oreo-Cheese Cupcakes decorated with Oreo flakes and whipped cream
The cooks/gossip girls of the day: Jean, Ah Bun, Sherilyn, Winnie, Carol & ME!
Love you girls!
And introducing our very first food tester: Ryo
I think he sort of liked the cookie he was CRAMPING into his mouth? Poor him... had to go through a "process" to compliment us and our "victories". Which is something like this:
Ryo: WAR! Very nice ler! *eyes open wide wide*
Us: Of course la!
Ryo: Eh how you make it one? *as if very interested look*
Us: Aiyo very easy only *act smug and proud of our efforts*
Girls.... like compliments and nice nice comments to amplify our small efforts to make us feel good. :p

A sudden surge of I miss..
travelling and exploring new places. Widening my horizons and realizing how lucky I am to be able to travel around and see the world...
good food from around that tantalizes my taste buds.
my twin and Sin Hui. The two people that I adore and who I came through thick and thin in a used to be foreign country. The Park Road Boys. Who cheers me up when I cry, cook for me when I am hungry, bear with me when I am grumpy and accepts me for who I am.

ray. The cook that irritates me at times yet knows me well. Andrew. His comments that never fail to frust me, yet leave a smile on my face. Debbie. The bride to be whom I find to be one of the best travelling companion...
ah Poh, Lao Gong, Xin Xin, Ling Ling, Ah Ping, Kah Hooi, Shu Chin, Koko, Yang Yang. Friends I love, friends whom I have known for years, and have stuck with me for years. Friends I could never picture myself without, as my life would be incomplete if you have not came into my life.
and my lovely family. Who are scattered around the globe.
There are many more "I miss"... but these are the ones for the recent days.
Holidays and Food never fail to cheer me up.
And these are the people who came at top of mind
when I'm feeling lonely and wanting some company...
